Compliance

Know your customer

The regulated process of establishing that a player is who they claim to be, usually through an identity document, a liveness or biometric check and an address or age confirmation. It is a licence condition in every regulated market, not an optional friction.

Compliance

Terms it sits beside
Anti-money laundering, Tiered compliance model, Source of funds

Part of the Scalara iGaming glossary, written for operators choosing a platform.

What it means for an operator

The operational question is not whether you run KYC but when, and what the platform does with the answer. Checking at first withdrawal keeps signup friction low and creates a queue of angry players. Checking at signup does the reverse.

Scalara raises checks through Sumsub from the player record, writes the result into the player's compliance tier, and lets the wallet consult that tier before any money moves. Where the threshold sits is your decision, per brand.
