Hold
The share of stakes an operator actually kept over a real period, as opposed to the theoretical share the game maths predicts. It moves with player behaviour, game mix, bonus cost and luck, and over a short window it can differ sharply from expectation.

What it means for an operator
New operators panic at a bad month and celebrate a good one. Neither tells you much on its own, because hold converges slowly and bonus cost distorts the early picture more than anything else.
The useful discipline is to track hold alongside bonus cost and game mix, so that a change has an explanation rather than a mood attached to it.
