Locked balance

Funds a player holds but cannot yet withdraw, usually because they came from a bonus with a wagering requirement still outstanding. Keeping it distinct from real balance is what makes both the player's view and the operator's liability position honest.

What it means for an operator

Merging bonus money into a real balance is convenient for a week and expensive afterwards. The player believes they can withdraw it, the finance team cannot see the true liability, and the dispute arrives at the first withdrawal attempt.

Scalara holds real, bonus and locked balances as separate positions in the same ledger and reports them separately, and the player sees wagering progress update live rather than at the end.
